History

The Hall, which is leased at a peppercorn rent from the Bolton Estate, was built as a Drill Hall for the “Loyal Dales” and is thought to date back to the 1890s.  Extended and refurbished on a number of occasions the Hall has been used by Scouts and Guides since the 1930s. In the 1990s Scouting left Wensleydale and the Hall was run solely by volunteers from Girl Guiding.  When Scouts were re-established in the early 2010s they naturally found a base here. The Hall is now a registered charity, independent of both Girl Guiding UK and The Scout Association.
